Saba's Story
As an immigrant new to cultures outside of Iran, my fascinations reside along persuasive concepts and design theories that I have learned throughout my time as an art student, but also through the diverse personalities and immense beauties that my life has presented to me. I am a fashion designer expecting to succeed in my goals and ambitions as a creator in avant-garde, slow and sustainable fashion. My interests align with elevating my standards and perceptions outside of fashion and digesting the impact and intelligence that includes creative aspects found in illustration, storytelling, dance, and film. I am inspired by what I feel could translate into the trends of the next five years, whether that includes color theory, pattern-making, or other tools established by fashion reports. My goals for the future of my success are to apply innovation or new technology to fashion as we rapidly move into modern applications of design and production and tie them back to the beautiful cultures that have already given us so much.
The future is not only something we enter but also the future we create. Known by no one, the end has no master. It is not for us to decide, but it can be ours to design and encourage. Creating a future that is sustainable, impressionable, and beneficial future to the greater masses is a huge plus to our quickly changing and demanding economy. I, Saba Farajollahi, comprehend what it feels like to wander around certain uncertainties and to be compelled by the very nature of an unforeseeable future.
We all like to dream, just as much as the idea that our dreams have room for reality. Although this may seem threatening, the harsh reality that we wake up to a world where we have no real control over how our actions and engagements will roll-out is scary, in fact, it’s a simulating nightmare. My goal as a designer of the future is to break the simulation, right through every uncertainty this life may present, and to create something that relishes in the beauty and the culture we do see. The future is here, right in front of us. Beautifully unwrapped and ready to be embraced, the future is the people and the culture is the wonderful spectrum of color that bless our perceptions every day.
My designs propose asymmetric patterns that balance light and darkness to create contrast, all the while incorporating storytelling and meaningful exchanges between the realm of luxury and comfortable attire. Much like the colors painted in life through stories and culture, my work attempts to capture harmony and diversity in the concepts I develop. I don’t design anything that I wouldn’t see myself, or someone I care for, wearing. Although I have a lot of experience to gain, and much like the future untold, I believe there is a better world waiting to break free. All we need is a little patience and a moment of sublime clarity with all the value the present day gives us.
